The Company:

This team are a great events supplier in the industry and they are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Director to join their team on a permanent basis. This company creates stunning installations and show-stopping events for a wide variety of clients.

Position Terms:
  • Full-Time Permanent Role, working 5 days in the office
  • Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 plus super
  • Weekend and outside of hours work required for events
The Role:

The Technical Director will work closely with high-end clients across Australia to bring creative visions to life through scoping, planning, drafting, visualising, briefing, sampling, producing and execution. This role will work closely with the production and creative departments to deliver various elements of the production of bespoke and major projects.

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Provide expert technical input to Creative team on build requirements, AV and Lighting and other Production areas. 
  • Estimation & Costing of projects into the internal system.
  • Quality control and ensure all production meets Australian standards, minimising Company risk/exposure by adopting best practice techniques in all manufacturing approaches.
  • Maintain Production schedule for approved projects - Ensuring production projects run within budget, to timelines & agreed milestones.
  • Participate in meetings and be articulate in your communication of tasks and requests of information to find solutions.
  • Manage Production suppliers to deliver builds.
  • Working closely with the Warehouse and Logistics in regard to logistics around projects.
  • Working with the Production Director on Risk Assessments documents associated with products.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and quality within the Production Department.
The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Senior Production Coordinator, Production Manager or Technical Manager within the events industry. You will bring a creative approach to how projects come together, and will have excellent technical knowledge.
  • Highly organised with excellent planning plus financial and administration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to operate highly autonomously when required, but also function as a team player, sharing information, and accepting input
  • Leadership qualities - Confidence in leading, motivating and inspiring the crew and contractors throughout the various stages of projects
  • A sound level of IT literacy
  • Drafting experience in Vectorworks or CAD is highly desirable
  • A quick learner with a high attention to detail
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Flexible with regard to work hours during the install & dismantle season (October – January)
  • Ability to work in the office 5 days a week
