The Company:

This Hospitality Group is a power house in the Australian Hospitality space. The amazing team plans and executes a range of corporate and social events, tailored to the clients needs with precision. They own and operate within multiple venues across Melbourne, and they are looking for a Head of Events to manage multiple Event and Wedding Coordinators who work across multiple venues.

Position Terms:
  • Full-time permanent role
  • Working 5 days a week in the office
  • Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 plus super
The Role:

The Head of Events reports to the General Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and delivery of events across multiple venues. The Head of Events will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of Event Coordinators and Producers which includes workload allocation, work in progress meetings (WIPs), problem solving and customer resolution. This person will also assist the General Manager in establishing, updating and streamlining of Production processes and implementation across the team. In addition to direct management of a team, this role will support with the production and planning of corporate events and weddings.

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Take lead on coordinating and producing events as required.
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships with a focus on generating repeat business.
  • Coordinate all third party suppliers, providing the requirements necessary to understand expectations when arriving and working on site.
  • Be present and heavily involved on events with large production elements working closely with operations to execute.
  • Production of major events both onsite and offsite as requested
  • Preparation of permit and licensing and documents.
  • Allocate event handovers and ensure adequate division of workload amongst the team, whilst ensuring each event has a Producer in attendance.
  • Ensure the Production team coordinate and deliver events to the highest quality, ensuring that client expectations are surpassed.
  • Team coaching and development including weekly one-on-ones with direct reports, and completing PDR’s (Performance and Development Reviews) for all direct reports in accordance with the schedule.
  • Recruitment, onboarding, training and development of new team members.
  • Facilitate site inspections and planning meetings that inspire clients to book while selling goods and services to maximise profit.
  • Assist with presenting training and development opportunities to all production staff.
The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a excellent leader with experience managing teams of event coordinators. Experience managing and delivering events and/or weddings is essential for this role. Experience working in Hospitality, F&B and/or Catering is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members.
  • Master problem solver with the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and reactive to day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Strong focus on identifying efficiencies and developing processes and systems to make improvements.
  • Excellent event management and production skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work 5 days a week in the office.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours for events when required.
