Events Manager - Trade Shows

The Company:

This corporate business are one of the fastest growing and well recognised brands in their market here in Australia. With offices in the Northern Melbourne Suburbs, they have a great team in their Head Office and this role sits within a wider Marketing Team of 6 current permanent staff, but the team will sit around 10 staff within the next 3-6 months due to the growth of the business. 

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role is responsible for overseeing the entire companies yearly events strategy as well as overseeing the entire operations and onsite coordination of the yearly calendar of events. With 70 events planned for the next year, this role will oversee the strategy and development of all of these events and be responsible for onsite execution of the larger trade show events and companies attendance at these. 

Position Terms:
  • Full-time permanent role
  • Working 5 days a week in the office
  • Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 plus super depending on experience 
Key Responsibilities include;
  • Strategy Management: Work with the senior leadership team to develop the annual calendar of events, requirements, attendance of stakeholders and have an understanding of ROI for the corporate business in attending these events 
  • Project Management: end to end management of major events from inception to completion and review of outcomes and improvements
  • Merchandise Coordination: Ensure all companies other locations in Australia are well stocked with trade show merchandise and work closely with suppliers to replenish stock if required
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Work with internal teams to coordinate attendance at major trade shows, ensuring all sales staff are fully briefed and other requirements are met
  • Show Travel and Logistics: Organise all the logistics and operational travel requirements for the team to attend on site events
  • Social Media Collaboration: Work with the social media internal teams to develop social content for the business related to the event attendance as well as provide promo stock and requirements to ensure all social media content is brand related
  • Event Documentation: Develop all project plans for attendance at the events, run sheets, WHS risk and site inspections and ensure all documentation is handed to the appropriate internal teams and managed as required 
  • Event Pack Development: Create Event Packs that can be handed to internal teams that will attend smaller events that you won't need to be onsite for, but this pack should include a Branding guideline and directions on what is to be utilised and locations for set up so instructions are clear and concise
  • Trade Show Attendance: Work with external trade show organisers to ensure our brand is in the right location for the event, working with internal teams to develop floor plans for the events, work with internal teams to ensure the right equipment is in attendance to showcase the brand 
  • Trade Show Appearance: Develop a best in show trade show appearance for each of the events, ensuring our stall has a wow factor that attracts people and that there's an overarching strategy to the stand that ensures ROI for the brand and sales team who are onsite 
  • Marketing of Events and Brand: Work with internal marketing team to organise photoshoots of the brand equipment so that these photos can be provided to Trade Show Organisers to market our brand in attendance at the events
  • Event Representation: Be onsite to manage all the end to end requirements of major events, handling all internal teams attendance, ensuring all needs are met for the event and reports post event are delivered to management with ROI and statistics that show how successful the event was for the brand
The Candidate:

With a proven track record of either managing Trade Shows and Exhibitions, or managing attendance at these types of events for a corporate brand, you will understand the requirements of ROI for a brand and how these events factor into a larger sales pipeline for the corporate business. You will have experience developing the overriding strategy for attending events, as well as experience managing all the logistics and operations for trade shows. The right candidate will be able to work with external trade show organisers to ensure the best stand requirements for our brand, be able to come up with creative ideas for our stands and then ensure that we execute on those. Develop an understanding for our brand and what drives sales, and work out how this can then be used to create a better event space at trade shows to drive our customer experience.  
  • A proven track record in successfully organising major exhibitions or trade shows or a companies attendance at them and experience with floor plans, layouts and working with suppliers to create the best experience for customers 
  • Having a creative ability to be able to design stand outfits that best suit our customer needs and has a best in show appearance with Wow factors 
  • Outstanding project and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities, and plan and organise complex tasks as well as the ability to oversee an entire yearly event strategy for the business 
  • Highly self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to make snap decisions and work through complex situations
  • Excellent written skills, including the ability to prepare and edit high quality editorial content for website, e-newsletters, advertising, marketing and promotional materials for print and digital media when required
  • Demonstrate excellent stakeholder liaison skills and experience in working effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent computer literacy including various PC based software packages, databases and great understanding of MS Office suite of products
